If you follow me on Instagram, you saw this in November when I made it for John's birthday. It was delicious and so easy. Birthdays do not have to be complicated or elegant if you don't have time. Making something at home carries meaning, but you don't always have to bake a cake from scratch! Boxed gluten-free cake can be really good. I made this after dinner and we ate it the same night.
Gluten-free Dirt Cake Trifle ingredients:
King Arthur gluten-free chocolate cake mix (to die for) #paidlink
1 tub cool whip or whipped topping alternative
about 2 sleeves gluten-free oreos
1 packet instant chocolate pudding mix
milk according to pudding instructions
gummy worms of choice
trifle dish (use it for so many things! A classic kitchen staple) #paidlink
Bake cake according to directions. While it cools, make chocolate pudding according to directions. Once set, mix with 1 container of cool whip and chill. Remove the cream of oreos and crush cookies into crumbs. Once the cake is cool, cut into 3 inch cubes. Cover the bottom of your trifle dish in cake pieces, then put 1/2 of the chocolate whip mixutre on top. Sprinkle 1/2 of your crushed oreos, then repeat the 3 layers again. Top with gummy of choice and chill for 30 min to 1 hour before eating.
